In former ornamental gardens, dwarf apple and pear trees were often planted along the paths and led in the form of horizontal ropes. Horizontal cords can be single-arm or double-arm. Two arms can be single or double. Single cords are usually formed at height 0,5 m from the ground.
Trees in the form of horizontal ropes are planted in a row at a distance from 3 do 4 m one from the other. Short stakes are hammered between the trees and the wire is stretched between them in height 0,5 m or too 0,5 m i 1,0 m, if the cord is to be in double form. For one-armed cords it is best to plant slender ones, nonbranched occultants. They can then be bent horizontally and tied to the wire at the required height (Lynx.).
Lynx. A one-year maiden bent horizontally and tied to a wire.
In summer, the momentum that grows at the top of the conductor attaches 3-4 fold into the wire, and the remaining shoots are pinched in the same way as when forming diagonal ropes.
In order to form two-armed ropes, it is necessary to plant profusely branched occultants. After planting, they are cut at the height of the stretched wire and two branches are left, which stretches horizontally in two opposite directions.
Lynx. Forming a double-arm horizontal cord: a - one-year-old maiden after planting; b - maiden after pruning with two shoots left, c - shoots bent to a horizontal position.
In the absence of branched maiden, it is possible to plant unbranched. The formation of the two arms then takes place over the course of summer. Two shoots are selected in June and tied to the wire. The remaining unnecessary shoots are pinched three times a summer over 2-3 leaves. In the second and third years, the conductor is tied to the wire until it touches the arm of the neighboring tree..
In order to form double horizontal ropes, a guide must be left after the first pair of shoots are bent. When the guide grows to the second wire, select two shoots again and bend them to form a second pair of arms. Above them the guide should be removed.
The cutting of formed horizontal cords is identical to the cutting of vertical or diagonal cords (Lynx.).
Lynx. The method of cutting annual shoots on a horizontal line.
The best results are obtained with a summer cut followed by a spring cut.

We form them similarly to vertical cords. The easiest way to get them is by planting unbranched occultants. After trimming the maiden in height 40 cm from the ground, two shoots should be selected in summer, which is properly bent and attached to the supports. All remaining shoots should be pinched out every few weeks 2-3 leaves. The further procedure is like this, as with vertical cords.
