Quince (Chaenomeles) is a short to medium tall shrub distinguished by beautiful flowers and edible fruit (great for jam). The most common species are: Japanese and Chinese quince.
Japanese quince (Chaenomeles japonica) it is a low thorn shrub with glossy leaves, elliptical, dark green. Red or dark pink flowers, blooms in April or early May. Requires fertile and clean soil. A bit sensitive to frost, but quickly regenerating from the mundane parts.
Chinese quince (Bottles of champagne) it is similar to Japanese, but it grows much higher. Red flowers, in some forms pink or white. Quince fruits are yellow or yellow-green, in diameter 3-5 cm, pleasantly fragrant when ripe. Because they contain a lot of pectin, they can be used as an addition to fruit preserves.
