Nasturcja (Tropaeolum majus) it is a well-known plant that is cultivated both in gardens, and on balconies. They are most often grown 2 species of nasturtium – climbing (Tropaeolum majus) and dwarf (Tropaeolum majus var. nanum). The first one grows up to the height 2 m and is suitable for planting next to fences, the second to the height 30 cm and is used for the edges of a bed of taller plants or for narrow single-species beds. Also suitable for cut flower. Its stems are long, smooth, naked, long shoot or short, bushy. Smooth leaves, round or cut in flaps”, set on long petioles located in the center of the leaf blade. Single or full flowers (in diameter 7 cm), in the form of an open cup, at the bottom with a "spur” and on long stalks. Most often they are orange or yellow, in various shades, less often brown-purple. It grows best in light soils, moderately fertile and moderately moist, in sunny places. It is sown in the second decade of May, co 1 5 cm, in rows marked with co 30 cm. It blooms after 8-10 weeks from the date of sowing.

Of the varieties of climbing nasturtium, Luzifer is sometimes for sale – about scarlet flowers and a mixture of colors: yellow ones, orange and scarlet.

Of the dwarf nasturtium varieties, the Empress of India is the most common – has dark scarlet flowers and Goldkoenig – golden yellow.

The highest one is Tropaeolum Peltophorum syn. Tropaeolum lobbianum, that is Lobba, whose shoots grow up to 3-4 m. They are hairy. Cut leaves, of one- or a multi-colored pattern along the veins. The color of the flowers: yellow, salmon-orange, dark red.
