Kalina – Lilac

Kalina

Kalina (Viburnum) is a well-known shrub with leaves that fall for winter or are cold hardy. The flowers are gathered in umbels, stone fruits of various colors. We have several species to choose from, of which Korean viburnum deserves attention (Viburnum of Charles) – shrub with wide branches. The entire plant is covered with stellate hairs. Broad ovate leaves, unevenly serrated, matte, green, lighter on the underside. The flowers are quite large, White, pink outside, strong and pleasant, "Narcissistic” fragrant, collected in dense, semicircular inflorescences; blooms in late April or May. Bluish-black fruit. It tolerates partial shade well, but it is somewhat sensitive to frost, therefore it should be planted in sheltered places. The shrub that blooms before the leaves unfold is a viburnum (Fragrant viburnum). This shrub has brown twigs, pointed-elliptical leaves, sharply serrated, rough, tubular flowers, pink color, turning into white, fragrant, in panicles. It blooms in late April and May. It has a dwarf variety, which can be planted in small gardens.

Lilac – without

Lilac (Syringe) is a tree commonly known as the lilac. The name lilak introduced for him from a foreign language, in order to distinguish it in Polish from bzowiny (sambucus) in turn called the lilac, it didn't catch on, and Syringa is still generally known as the lilac.

Among the lilacs we distinguish species and park varieties as well as garden forms of single and full-flowered varieties of the common lilac, also grown as a cut flower. The flowers of lilacs are colored: white, lilac pink, lila, dark purple, purple-purple, red lilac. The flowers smell nice. Lilacs bloom profusely, when grown in fertile soil, warm and with the right amount of lime. A sunny position is the best for them. After flowering, the inflorescences should be trimmed, so that no seeds are formed, which weakens plants and adversely affects next year's flowering. Lilac varieties are usually inoculated on seedlings, therefore it is necessary to remove the root suckers. Because the lilacs grow into powerful shrubs, they need to be planted in the right place, so they don't overshadow other crops too much. It is worth planting only noble varieties, which are many.
